Client purpose
The global multi-brand, multi-channel, multi-category platform company has been invested by a top private equity firm, which following a build-up strategy has brought together more than 23 retail brands in the three verticals. This strategy represents a major technological challenge when it comes to unifying data from multiple sources, systems and formats for each of its brands.
To overcome this major technological challenge, they began to develop a Data Warehouse (DWHv1) that would unify the data from all their brands. This first attempt did not meet their expectations, so they needed a fast, efficient and guaranteed solution. That's when we started our conversations and work to help building their DWHv2.
How we navigate it
First thing we did was an assessment to understand clearly client needs, existing pipelines, databases, DWH and reporting. In order to define a technical solution that fits their needs.
The assessment allowed us to start the project with guarantees. We decided to start the project by implementing it in a single brand and once iterated and validated, implement it in the other ones. And this is where we are right now.
To do so, zenital has profiles with different seniority to address all these tasks:
- Data Engineer / Senior Data Engineer to do most of the hands-on work daily: SQL Queries, Data Pipelines, ETL processes, Dashboards, among others.
- Data Architect defining strategy, architecting solutions and unblocking complex technical issues in the development side.
- Technical Data Manager to assist in project management tasks like identifying and mitigating issues and liaise with client management.
We believe that a Service Model combining the profiles above will achieve better quality and faster deliveries.
Where it took us
We are currently providing a solution for the most important brand of the global multi-brand, multi-channel, multi-category platform company, following best practices and considering both operational and analytical needs. This fact now allows us to start implementing the solution efficiently and with guarantees to the other brands.

How to change an entire data strategy
I imagine 8wires as that sincere and honest partner that takes you out of all that noise and helps you focus on what is important, no matter how unsexy it may be, to achieve a great long-term goal.
The one who accompanies you through the hard times and helps you through the tough decisions, knowing that there is no easy road. The one who gives you the push or the tools so that you climb and be yourself the one who reaches the summits you propose in a healthy, sustainable and energetic way. And above all, the one who steps aside when he knows that he is not helping you or that he will not be able to give you what you need.
I don't know if it is helpful, but somehow I saw on the web a visual explanation of the problem in the data/technology world (I don't know if with this metaphor) before showing how it is to work with us and finally, another visual explanation of the result.
Like a bridge over troubled waters
