Client purpose
A Spanish low-cost airline founded in 2011, which outsources IT services to the maximum. Originally they had a small partner who worked as their data department, but they needed to consolidate it with a partner that could give them flexibility and guarantees when executing projects. At that moment is when our relationship began, giving them support and participating in specific projects, until today, when we are working on a new data architecture, we manage their migration, reporting and projects related to data.
Thus, we became their data department.
How we navigate it
As client's data department, we provide services to the finance, revenue, operations, marketing, human resources and other internal departments.
Our role is to manage the following tasks:
- Queries / data extractions from the databases in which data from the operational, transactional and CRM systems with which client works are dumped.
- Reporting, in Tableau and mainly in PowerBI, to provide users in all departments access to the information they need, when they need it, and how they request it.
- Updating and maintenance of databases and automated processes to ensure that the above points work properly.
zenital has profiles with different seniority to address all these tasks:
- Data Engineers to do most of the hands-on work daily:
- Creation of customised reports and queries in PowerBI for the departments involved.
- Optimisation and correction of existing reports in Tableau and PowerBI.
- Maintenance and updating of databases.
- Migration from legacy to modern platforms.
- Automation of all processes that allow daily data updates for all departments.
- Data Architect providing support to follow best-practices in all processes and executed projects.
- Team lead / manager for client management, resource management, task prioritisation. Functions as a PM figure for client, carrying out projects estimation, and short and medium-term planning of workloads.
Where it took us
We have been supporting this client since their origin, evolving and updating their data related needs according to the moment. During this time we have managed to build an honest and transparent relationship with them, which we hope will continue to grow over the coming years.

How to change an entire data strategy
I imagine 8wires as that sincere and honest partner that takes you out of all that noise and helps you focus on what is important, no matter how unsexy it may be, to achieve a great long-term goal.
The one who accompanies you through the hard times and helps you through the tough decisions, knowing that there is no easy road. The one who gives you the push or the tools so that you climb and be yourself the one who reaches the summits you propose in a healthy, sustainable and energetic way. And above all, the one who steps aside when he knows that he is not helping you or that he will not be able to give you what you need.
I don't know if it is helpful, but somehow I saw on the web a visual explanation of the problem in the data/technology world (I don't know if with this metaphor) before showing how it is to work with us and finally, another visual explanation of the result.
Like a bridge over troubled waters
